UNICEF: Requiem for Darfur
On Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, musicians and singers from more than 45 ensembles worldwide will perform a "Requiem for Darfur" at New York City's Carnegie Hall. The historic musical event serves as a memorial to those who have lost their lives and homes to the ongoing conflict in the Darfur region of western Sudan. Presented by the Democracy Council, a non-profit that advocates for human rights and the rule of law in developing nations, Requiem for Darfur will benefit agencies providing humanitarian relief in Darfur. UNICEF, American Jewish World Service, the National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA and Refugees International will put the concert proceeds to work.
