UNICEF Mourning the Rwandan genocide, 14 years on
Marking the 14th anniversary of the genocide in Rwanda… children, former genocide victims and dignitaries gathered at the United Nations to mark the somber occasion. Joseph Nsengimana, Permanent Representative of Rwanda to the UN: “14 years on, the consequences of this tragedy are felt today by genocide survivors, their children and Rwandans everywhere.” Purple is the color of mourning in Rwanda… but more than just a memorial for the dead, this event focused on the importance of the phrase “never again.”
