U.S. Department of State: Condeleeza Rice on Palestine
The Quartet met on Feb. 2 to draft resolutions to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who spearheaded the meeting, says the establishment of a Palestinian state is necessary to create peace and security for both groups. The meeting consisted of Secretary Rice, U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, High Representative for European Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana and European Commissioner for External Relations Benita Ferrero-Waldner.
