UNICEF: Youth reporters in Guyana ask questions about
Youth journalists from around the Caribbean are scouting the streets of Georgetown Guyana looking for stories on
issues that concerns their generation. While asking challenging questions, they get unexpected answers.
SOUNDBITE (English) Genelva Krinb, 16 years old: “I think being a journalist is hard sometimes especially when
you’re looking for a response that you know is true, and when you want to get something to the attention of the public,
sometimes the mindset of the people really throw you off. So you don’t really get what you’re looking for, so it’s kind of
hard to get people or a person to support what you want to say to get something abolished for their own good. I guess
it’s because of the mindset or the culture.”
Back at the UNICEF office, Andrea, a member of youth media Guyana is working hard to polish the design of the CD
cover that contains all the videos by young people
