Dental insurance and tooth loss
Shirley Boykin was never able to afford regular visits to the dentist and as a result lost several teeth.
But thanks to Dr. Schaaf, who volunteers at this free dental clinic, Shirley can now eat the foods she likes and needs
to stay healthy.
It may shock boomers nearing retirement to know that dental care is not covered by Medicare.
Affordable dental care can be hard to find. And, few dentists provide their services at reduced fees or let patients pay
for services over time.
The bright side is that Americans are keeping their teeth longer, but without dental care it may be difficult to keep
them forever.
