General Motors: Fashion and Design
With New York Fashion Week underway, style is a keyword being tossed around quite a bit. However, these new "styles" are no longer seen solely on clothing runways. As fashion becomes a growing trend seen both on sidewalks and streets, car designers say they are shifting their focus from engineering to design with top-of-the-line materials and stitching details. As part of this effort to focus on fashion, GM employed fashion designer Dana Buchman to help modify the new Cadillac SRX. Buchman says she designed the car for women by choosing colors that are elegant, pretty and soft. She also paid close attention to the interior, outfitting the car with luxurious quilted leather.
