The ONE Campaign: Nelson Mandela
President Nelson Mandela urges ONE.org supporters to call on the richest countries to keep the 2005 G8's life-saving promises and help make poverty history in Africa and the world's poorest countries. The world leader from South Africa stole the show at the last Live 8 concert held in Edinburgh Tuesday even though he wasn't even there to enjoy music performed by Annie Lennox, The Proclaimers, Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure. The event was held at Scotland national rugby stadium, Murrayfield, in the pouring rain. When Mandela pre-recorded speech was shown on the big screen, all the Live 8 work was justified by his statement, "Sometimes, it falls upon a generation to be great. You can be that generation." Considering the bombings today in London, it obvious to this writer that the new generation will inherit a dangerous world. Maybe they can make it better.
